Understanding Grief in Students

Grief is a harsh, often unexpected reality for young people around the world. Students, especially college students and young adults, are going through a critical stage of development that can be severely impacted by loss. They need the tools to understand and process the pain that comes with grief. However, losing a loved one is complex — it doesn’t have a magic cure-all.

If a young person in your life is experiencing loss, it's important to remember that there are few requirements for grief. It doesn’t matter who passed away, how old they were or how long it’s been since they passed. The pain is still present for that young person, whether they lost a family member, a friend or even a pet.

At Let Your Love Grow, we strongly believe in the importance of being there for others as they grieve and providing outlets for them to heal. Many people find comfort and acceptance through a living memorial, which allows them to give their loved ones new life as a blossoming flower or a mighty tree.
